Thursday, 8:30 am: The weather is supposed to be changing and rain is, I’m pretty certain, heading our way. We may be dining al fresco [a cookout in the backyard] if the rain comes later in the day; if not, we’ll cook the same stuff inside, minus the mosquito bites and singed facial hair. Somehow it loses its rustic appeal when done inside.
For health reasons, we’ve started drinking pomegranate juice. By itself it’s “okay” and a bit pricey, but it is much better when blended with cranberry juice. It’s discomforting to know, when added to my fish-oil and garlic capsules, I’m starting to resemble a kitchen in an Italian seafood restaurant. And of all things, I’ve lost a bit of my panache. Ah, but I’m healthy. I’d prefer a New York deli.
After three episodes of Northern Exposure [thanks Frank & Kathy] from Season Five, it’s time for a break. If I’m not careful I’ll spend hours and hours watching the show, so I need to ration my input of Maurice, Chris, Joel, Maggie and the gang.
