Snow and Rain Today!

Thursday, January 12, 2006, 9:15 am: It is snow and rain mixed today with some rather large flakes. How unusual, our weather station displays 36 degrees F. I’m sure once the temperature drops this afternoon all the water and slush will turn to ice.

I haven’t gone out to use our snowblower. It’s pointless until the town’s snowplow clears our road. The plow operator tends to push the snow right back into our driveway. And on days like today the snow will be very wet and probably, only get blown just a few feet out of our snowblower’s chute. But that’s life in rural Maine. It’s time for hot chocolate and whipped cream.

Current values from our Vantage-Pro weather station:

Temperature: 36 degrees Fahrenheit (F)

Barometer: 29.53 and steady

Humidity: 88%

Winds: light and variable currently 1 mph

Visibility: 1 – 2 miles variable

Precipitation: Rain and snow mixed

Low since midnight: 31.8 at 12:48 am

High wind since midnight: 3 mph at 12:27 am

Do you have any photos of approximately the same views that were taken during warm weather? It would be interesting to see the contrast. But, my close reading of your blog (to the point that my family is a bit concerned) reveals you didn't have your digital camera until recently. . . .
