Clear and Cold
Friday, 1:17 pm: Phew! That’s some bone-chilling wind outside with the wind chill into the lower single digits. I might be mistaken, but I think winter has finally arrived after a few false starts. It’s time to dig out my long johns.
Yesterday I drove into Caribou for an appointment and to have our studded snow tires put on our pickup truck. For such a short distance, ca. 38 miles, it took a long and grueling one hour and 15 minutes to get there with patches of ice on the road, and me with summer tires. I am a procrastinator and will put off something until there are absolutely no other options available, at least according to my wife. That was the case yesterday.
On Tuesday I had a dentist appointment, and on the way home we saw a moose just north of Presque Isle. He was quite lucky after dodging cars to cross US Route One to go trotting off across a farm field. Further north on the road we saw three moose together in Connor casually grazing next to the road. More next time; my wife has tasked me with the chore of ordering an obscure health book online.
