A White Boxing Day

--- Our road an hour ago ---
Tuesday, 3:55 pm: Here it is the day after Christmas and across the river it is Boxing Day in Canada. It wasn’t a white Christmas, generally it was pretty green. Today, however, it is quite white. Already about 2½ inches of snow have fallen. According to the computerized voice on our NOAA weather radio we are way behind in our snowfall for this season.
My wife, who is a registered nurse had to work on Christmas Day. I incorrectly assumed she would be required to stay longer than usual, so I fried my Christmas cheeseburger. About halfway through my sumptuous meal she called and she said she is coming home early and we’ll have a real holiday dinner. Needless to say my burger paled in comparison. Fried food and baked ham, what a combination. Only in America!
I know we’ve had a good snowfall today -- the town’s snowplow had been down our road at least three times since sunrise. While in Madawaska earlier we saw a few cars spinning their wheels on some slippery spots on Route One and in some parking lots. Today the high temperature hasn’t risen above freezing. What was frozen will stay frozen, and well-hidden beneath a fresh layer of snow.
