It's Snowing and Snowing

Our house during the current snowstorm
Thursday, 4:45 pm: Weather update; it’s snowing a lot. I hope that’s not too vague. I had to be out driving in this mess for a few hours today for a doctor’s appointment. Even with studded snow tires and all-wheel drive I could feel our car frequently slipping over the pavement. My top speed was about 35 mph, mostly much less.

Our unplowed road during the same storm
Today’s snow is a little slushy with a temperature of 34° (F.). By the time the sun drops below the horizon this evening, and the temperature falls, we will have some very slick roads to contend with. I am not looking forward to driving into Madawaska at 7:00 pm to pick up my wife. Although I don’t have blue hair, own a golf cart or white shoes, my days of reckless adventure are behind me. Driving in bad weather generally falls into this category.
This is the condensed version of my weather blog this afternoon. There are just too many things to do.
Current values from our wireless Vantage-Pro weather station:
Temperature: 33.8° (F.)
Barometer: 29.403 & falling rapidly
Humidity: 90%
Visibility: < 1 mile
Skies: 100% low overcast -- snowing heavily
Precipitation: ca. 9 inches wet snow
Since midnight:
Low temperature: 27.5° (F.) at 7:40 am
High wind: 11 mph at 12:26 am
Well, I must say the snow is quite a beautiful sight, at least when being viewed by me from down here in Florida where we had 60 degrees and sunshine today. Hopefully, your road will get plowed and you'll be able to get out and about. Remember, spring is just around the corner!
