Mostly Cloudy, Warm and Humid
We have been playing tag with the sun all day. Sometimes it is out and sometimes not. Right now the best we can call it is filtered sun. Maybe the red sky was right this morning. We again have a "Fresh Breeze" or 19-24 m.p.h. wind mainly out of the North Northwest, although it dies seem to be almost variable in direction.
We have another "old saw": The height of a paper wasp nest is an indicator of the amount of snow we will have during the winter. Below there is a picture of a paper wasp nest, and the best estimate is that it is 30 feet off the ground. That translates to approximately 360 inches of snow over the winter. I am not sure that I believe that, but hindsight in May will certainly tell that tale. By the way, so far this September we have had 13 foggy mornings. Does that mean 13 "significant" snowstorms? How many inches are significant? I don't know I just report the "old saws". Then I construct a null hypothesis that can be proved or disproved by the empirical data. (Once a scientist always a scientist). That ought to generate some comments.
