Breezy and Cool

If the breeze keeps up the frost will not have the chance to settle. Usually, however, as dusk closes in on us the breeze decreases in intensity allowing for radiational cooling to occur and frost to form. I have picked my peppers and covered the plants with sheets so the plants are prepared for a light frost. If the temperature dips into the mid twenties though they are history. Peppers are tender and the only way for them to survive is to put up some sort of hoop house with plastic covering. That is a possibility for next year. In this area we are about 5 weeks beyond our average first frost date of September 15th.
