Rain and Cool

The rain has continued all day and now into the evening. The ground is definitely saturated, and I am not sure how much more it can hold, if any. I know that the gravel floor in my basement is wet, but there is no standing water. I am, fortunately, on the top of a hill. The swamp at the bottom of the hill is quite full and getting fuller. I remember last year going into the winter it was only about 3 feet from the road, and it looks like it is heading that way again. With all the rain and plenty of water already in the ground there is a real potential for low lying areas to experience some flooding. Just as we had a very wet spring we are approaching a very wet autumn. As always all we can do is watch the weather, because there is absolutely nothing we can actually do
about it.
