Dismal With Rain and Snow

I have now taken the rain gauge in. There was 1.2 inches of rain in the gauge and about 2 inches of snow in the top of it. The frozen precipitation started to fall at about noon, just as I got home from downtown Farmington. There have been cars slipping and sliding on route 133 all afternoon. I was surprised to find that the snow was sticking to the roads as well as the grass. This is a heavy, wet, sticky snow and it is making a mess. The current temperature is 32.2 degrees, so I would expect it to continue to fall overnight, and the accumulation of snow to continue. The prognosticators say it is going to warm up into the fifties over the weekend, but I would not like to have to stake my reputation on that.
My animals did stay in where it was dry, and they had plenty of hay to munch on. I will shortly go out and feed and milk the goats and feed sheep their grain and probably give them a bit more hay for the overnight. They will probably stay in again tomorrow, since we may well see some more of the same type of weather we have seen today
