It's Getting Colder

Our morning low temperature has been corrected to 25.2. Sometimes it goes down just a little more before sunrise. It did that again this morning. The snow this morning stayed on the grass all day, and at 27 degrees is not leaving now.
As you can see from the data the temperature did not rise very much at all during the day, and it is already on the way down. Usually a cloud cover will keep in some heat, but I don't think this one will keep very much at all. It is mostly the high thin cirrus clouds, and that does not bode well for the future in terms of precipitation. I unloaded my mulch hay and got it to the basement windows. I also was able to get the garlic mulched to about 18 inches of loose hay. I was going to mulch the peas as well, but I took one step into the garden and sank right up to my ankles in mud. I will have to wait to mulch them until the ground either dries out a bit more or the frozen crust will support my weight. The way the temperature is headed it won't take very long to achieve that.
