Cold and Filtered Sun

If a heat wave is 3 days with temperatures over 90, is a cold wave 3 days or more below freezing? If so then we are having a cold wave. This weather is much more like Winter than Autumn and we have another month of Autumn before Winter finally gets here. I honestly am convinced that the ground will not reappear until spring. Things are beginning to look very dreary, no leaves on the trees and except for the evergreens the scenery is black and white. It's cloudy in the west and it's lookin' like snow.
