Black and White

When I looked out at the landscape this morning at 05:15 I saw a colorless vista. It was dark enough that the evergreens looked black, the deciduous trees which are now leafless were also and the ground is covered in white. Sometime the moon will have the snow sparkling like diamonds, but the partly cloudy sky did not let enough light through to do that.
It is warmer this morning than it has been, and I guess that the temperature will rise a bit more. I do not believe that it will get warm enough to do any major damage to the snow cover on the ground. With conditions as they are I think that we will have our White Christmas. In order for that to change here it will need to get well above freezing for several days, and I do not see that happening
