Clear, Cold and Windy

Welcome to Spring! Today is indeed the Vernal Equinox, but we are in the midst of some of the coldest weather we have had all year. For spring like weather, we will have to wait for a few more weeks. So much for the green grass I saw in my lawn the other day. This weather has been pretty good for the maple syrup producers though, I would guess. We have been going below freezing at night, and getting just above freezing during the day.
There was a red sky this morning at sunrise, but it is absolutely clear. The weather stick is pointed slightly up indicating fluctuating weather with a tendency to improve. My electronic instruments disagree with one another. The Min/Max thermometer is calling for fluctuating weather with a tendency to deteriorate, while the weather station says the weather will be fair with a tendency to improve. If people are predicting from this information they will have a difficult time. Two signs are calling for deterioration in the weather and two calling for improvement. All we can do at this point is be prepared for anything.
