Mare's Tails and Mackerel Scales

At 05:04, when the sun was starting to rise, the sky was red and partly cloudy. That is just a little too early for me to get out with the camera to photograph it. The portent is still there for some inclement weather. It does appear that we are going to have cloudy skies at the very least. The area of rain shown on the radar is reduced from what it was last night, which does not give much relief to the people who are experiencing the flooding in Southern Maine and New Hampshire. I hope that the dams that there is concern about hold.
There is some question about the weather prediction for the immediate vicinity. The weather stick is down, but that is normal. Two of the electronic instruments are predicting sunny weather, and the third is predicting deteriorating conditions with a mix of sun and clouds. With that kind of indecision and the red sky this morning, my guess is that we will have some unsettled weather for the next twelve hours or so. We will revisit it then and see where we are going.
