Mixed Clouds and Blue Patches
Today we have had quite a mix of sun, clouds, showers and thundershowers. Just a couple of minutes ago the sun came out for a brief moment. It was then covered by some cumulonimbus clouds, in preparation for another shower somewhere in the area. We have already had another .32 inches of rain during the day today. These have definitely been hit or miss showers. I have not heard my oil burner run since Tuesday, and there is still a significant amount of wood in the outdoor wood boiler. My chain now goes from my woodpile to my wood boiler to the house and barn. That is not all bad.
Now to the weather instrumentation.
This is the first time that I have seen the weather stick agree with one instrument calling for rain. The other two do not agree with them or with each other. One is calling for sun. The weather console is calling for unsettled conditions, but improving. I almost think that one is correct. I see many cumulonimbus clouds around with a few patches of either blue sky or sun, and they seem to be moving through the area. The radar images confirm this for our area, but it also shows some rain moving toward us from western New York state and down into Pennsylvania and New Jersey. At this moment, I am not holding out a lot of hope for tomorrow or the weekend. Mother Nature will have her way, no matter what we want.
