I did observe a halo around the moon this morning, but I think that was more doe to the fog than clouds. At the present time, it is not possible to tell what the cloud cover is. N.O.A.A. did miss the fog this morning for this area, and it is very dense. As a result of that fog the temperature here did not fall as low as it could have, and it was right where N.O.A.A. predicted it would be last night. Their predictions for the relative humidity were a bit high at 100% and the cloud cover appears to be on target. All in all, they did pretty well on their forecast.
The Weather Underground map still forecasts that today will be a good day for outside activities, but later this evening or tomorrow morning we may be in for some showers. N.O.A.A. predicts no rain today, temperatures topping out around 71°F, the cloud cover increasing from 22% to 55% and the relative humidity decreasing from 85% to 37% by 14:00 hours and then increasing to 49% by 17:00 hours.
My Weather Stick points down as usual, and I think that means nothing except that the humidity is high. All three of my electronic instruments forecast the barometric pressure to fall. The Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer predict further that we will have some rain, and the remote weather station predicts clouds. I am not sure I go along with them, despite the fact that they are frequently correct when they agree like this. This morning I think that N.O.A.A. is probably right with their forecast, or at least more right than my instruments. I will suggest that we will have some clouds moving in later, but that it will not rain until late tonight or sometime tomorrow morning. How is that for flying in the face of modern technology?
