Another Dense Fog This Morning
It was possible to see the waning moon this morning, while looking up through the fog. There do not appear to be many clouds, and the cloud type is a guess because of the fog, but without an aircraft or a building that gets above the fog it is not possible to do more than guess. The fog that N.O.A.A. predicted was much more than scattered, at least here. They did get the temperature correct, the cloud cover was close and the relative humidity was off by about 8%. That is not too bad for predicting the future.
For today, the Weather Underground forecast model still predicts no rain, and high barometric pressure. N.O.A.A. has for their forecast no rain, temperatures rising to 81°F from 64°F, the cloud cover to remain in the mid 30% range and the relative humidity to fall to around 45% by late afternoon. If that is correct, we should have a good day for the outdoor Royal Arch Degree in Yarmouth today.
Once again, in response to 92% relative humidity my Weather Stick points down to the point that it almost looked broken this morning. It certainly does not seem to portend any particular type of weather, just conversation. My electronic instruments on the other hand are all over the place. The remote weather station forecasts clouds and a steady barometer. The Min/Max Thermometer indicates clear weather with a rising barometric pressure, and the Weather Station Console is calling for the barometric pressure to improve with a mix of sun and clouds. How does one predict the weather when the instrumentation shows such varied forecasts based on the same data? The best guess I can make from all the data is that we will have some clouds passing through, but no rain due to the high-pressure system that appears to be taking hold over our area.
