That September In The Rain
Autumn, the other season of transition is starting with wet weather. When I got up it was foggy, and when I went to do the morning check on the wood boiler there was a little rain. We had a shower between 06:30 and 07:30 hours that left us with an additional 0.02 inches of precipitation. N.O.A.A. predicted the possibility of rain all night (it did not), the temperature to fall to 55°F (actual 50°F), the cloud cover to be 89% by morning (it was at least that) and the relative humidity to reach 100% (it actually reached 94%). Their score for the overnight forecast is a whopping 60%. The Weather Underground forecast model map had us with no rain overnight, but starting this noon and lasting until around 06:00 hours.
The N.O.A.A. forecast for this morning includes 0.06 inches of rain by 14:00 hours, rain all day, temperatures rising to 67°F, cloud cover falling from 96% to 61% and the relative humidity falling to 78%. With everything in such a state of flux, it will be interesting to see how close that forecast is to the facts.
My Weather Stick points down, and that with the highest relative humidity recorded this month of 94%. My electronic instruments are once again singing the same tune, and that is rain with a falling barometric pressure. That pressure is the lowest we have had this month at 29.45 in Hg. The weather we are having right now would be considered line storms, since the sun has just crossed a major line of latitude (the equator). So, welcome to autumn, and we won't even start to discuss what is coming.
