Mostly Clouds, But Some Sun
Today seems to have been preparatory to a storm system coming in. The wind is out of the south southeast bringing with it some moisture. We did not have any rain today, but it certainly has been cloudy with a mix of stratocumulus and cumulus clouds to entertain us with their shapes. I was finally able to get to the N.O.A.A. site to view their forecast. They predicted no rain that was correct, a high temperature of 65°F it actually reached 72°F, the cloud cover never reached as low as 54% (it was more like 70%-80%) and at 63% the relative humidity is within 5% of the forecast 58%. With all the data in place for review I would have to give them a 35% score.
The Weather Underground model forecast map indicates that the rain will not start until around 18:00 hours tomorrow, and then on Saturday around midnight we can expect some heavy rain. That is their prediction. N.O.A.A. predicts showers to start this evening around 23:00 hours, the temperature falling to 50°F, the cloud cover to reach 75% and the relative humidity to make almost a straight line from 65% to 93%. This should be interesting.
My Weather Stick points straight out from the carriage house, so it is from either the lower humidity or indicating unsettled weather on the way. All three of the electronic instruments forecast deteriorating barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts clouds. The other two instruments predict a mix of clear skies and clouds, or at least unsettled weather. With everything in place I would suggest that we are in for some unsettled weather for the next 24 hours with some heavier rain after that. Boy, talk about going out on a limb, if I am right I am a hero and if I am wrong I am a bum.
