We are in the midst of a thunderstorm. So far today we have had 0.27 inches of rain, and I suspect the system is not done with us yet.

Fall Colors Through The Rain
For the first time I find that the Weather Underground model forecast map did not quite have it right. We had several showers throughout the morning and early afternoon. Now we are having a thunderstorm. N.O.A.A. seems to have gotten the rain event right, the forecast temperature was correct (we reached 61.3°F) , 92% is a fair estimate of the cloud cover, but the relative humidity is at 85% (the forecast was for 58%). On that basis I cannot give them a 100%, but I will allow them a 75% based on the 4 parameters I follow.
The Weather Underground model forecast map still says the heaviest rain will occur around 21:00 hours, but it will be out of here by midnight, and that is a change. N.O.A.A. is forecasting showers ending by 02:00 hours followed by fog, the temperature dropping from 51°F to 42°F, the cloud cover improving from 50% to 36% in a nearly straight line and the relative humidity rising from 76% to 86% by 02:00 hours and back to 85% by 05:00 hours. Again, this should be interesting.
My Weather Stick, to no great shock, points down due to the combination of the relative humidity and the weather. All three of my electronic instruments are forecasting the barometric pressure to continue to fall along with the rain. This should bring our rainfall total up in good shape for the month of September. I do not seem to be able to argue with the instrumentation this afternoon, and call for rain to taper to showers overnight along with some cool temperatures. We still have not had a frost at this location. By the way I caught my Peacock on Wednesday, but he seems to have injured one of his legs. I will give it some time to heal before making a final decision on his disposition. He can get around, just not real well. For now, I am keeping him in the coop.
