We are having a gray start to the month of October. It has not rained overnight, but it certainly feels like it will. The clouds are taking their time moving in preparing for this storm system. N.O.A.A. forecast the possibility of scattered showers overnight, and we did not have any here. They also forecast that we would not have any precipitation, and we did not. They also forecast the temperature to be 42°F (actual was 44.1°F), the cloud cover to increase to 73% (it is closer to 90%) and the relative humidity to reach 93% (actual was 89%). The only parameter they missed was the cloud cover, so I would give them a 75% score for their forecast. That is better than they have been doing.
For today the Weather Underground model forecast map calls for some rain to start around 18:00 hours and end around 09:00 hours tomorrow morning. N.O.A.A. predicts that we have a possibility of showers after 11:00 hours with rain commencing after 17:00 hours, the temperature reaching a high of 56°F, the cloud cover reaching 100% this afternoon and the relative humidity falling to 56%. Once again, this should be interesting.
My Weather Stick is doing its usual morning thing pointing down in response to the high relative humidity. None of my electronic instruments agree with one another. The Weather Station Console forecasts improving barometric pressure with clear skies. We already know that is not correct. The Min/Max Thermometer forecasts deteriorating barometric pressure with a mix of clouds and fair skies. The remote weather station forecasts a mix of fair skies and clouds with steady barometric pressure. Right now the sun has broken through the clouds, but I do not expect that to last long. I expect that the sun will play hide-and-go-seek today, and we have a very good chance at picking up some precipitation before the end of the day.
