NEXRAD Says The Rain Is Almost Here
Right now, there is not a star or the moon to be seen outside. The clouds that allowed the sun to break through late this afternoon have returned with a vengeance. The Weather Underground model forecast map did predict that sometime tonight rain would arrive. N.O.A.A. predicted no rain during the day, a high temperature of 55°F (it was actually 64°F), cloud cover increasing to 84% then falling back to 80%, and the relative humidity increasing to 68% at 17:00 hours (and it was 63% here). They scored well today with 3 our of 4 parameters correct or 75% and a grade of "C"
For the overnight N.O.A.A. predicts that there will be scattered light showers until about 02:00 hours, after which we can expect some rain. The temperature will not fall very much, the prediction is a low of 50°F, the cloud cover will increase to 100% and the relative humidity will reach 96%. With all I have learned over the last 18 months, I can believe all of this.
My Weather Stick is only slightly down, and the 80% humidity is the reason for that. All three of my electronic instruments are forecasting rain and deteriorating barometric pressure. That air pressure has fallen since this morning. The lower barometric pressure, overcast and relative humidity all tend to indicate a storm system moving in, and looking at the Weather Underground map it will be a strong one.
