The Significant Feature Today Was Wind

The wind blew, and the wind blew. We have had gusts as high as 17 mph, but mainly it has been around 10 mph. That has certainly made it feel cooler that the actual temperature, hence windchill. I did something quite different with the N.O.A.A. data today. I looked not only at the end of the period (17:00 hours), but also at the data at 08:00, 11:00, 14:00 and 17:00 hours to see if they could improve their score. I am sorry to report that it did not help them. They had the predominant weather correct for all four time periods as well as the cloud cover. I deducted 1 point from their score for each point they missed the actual data at the times specified. For instance, they forecast 43°F, 47°F, 51°F and 50°F. The actual temperatures were 41°F, 45°F, 49°F and 42°F. That results in a deduction of 14 points. I did the same with the relative humidity resulting in forecast/actual: 72/58, 62/64, 60/72 and 64/75. That results in a deduction of 49 points. The net result is a grade of 51, and that is still an "F". Sorry guys. Maybe they should use the data that I upload to them in calculating their forecasts. If I had reported data like that from my laboratory, I would have been fired for incompetence.
The Weather Underground model forecast map does not forecast any rain for this area until late Monday. N.O.A.A. forecasts no precipitation overnight, the temperature to be 45°F/39°F/34°F/30°F from 20:00 hours to 05:00 hours. The cloud cover is expected to decrease from 22% to 19% to 16% and up to 29% over the same time period. The relative humidity is forecast to increase from 58% to 64% to 72% to 75% over that same time period. We will see what happens in the morning.
My Weather Stick points straight out, and that indicates the lower humidity, or maybe some instability in the atmosphere. All three of the electronic instruments forecast improving barometric pressure. The Min/Max Thermometer and Weather Station Console forecast clear skies, but the remote weather station still predicts rain. Maybe it will catch up by tomorrow. The wind seems to be determined to continue for the time being, and that is probably because of the difference in the pressures between the high pressure system now moving in and the low pressure system that went through yesterday.
