Cold And Windy

My anemometer has not seen this much activity since the storms we had on January sixth. The wind has not gotten that high, but with the cold temperature it does not matter. This is much nastier than that was. N.O.A.A. predicted no precipitation overnight, and got that right. I think they missed on the temperature and relative humidity though. They predicted single numbers for the temperature not negative single numbers to negative teens.
For today the prediction from N.O.A.A. is for no precipitation, cold temperatures and pretty significant winds. That should make it very uncomfortable to be outside today for any length of time.
My Weather Stick, in response to the 58% relative humidity, points straight out from the carriage house. 'Nuff said. Once again, as last night, the three electronic instruments are responding to the rising barometric pressure, lower relative humidity and lower temperatures, and forecast fair weather with increasing barometric pressure. In the hour since I began to collect this data the barometric pressure has risen 0.03 in.Hg. I would say that we are in the grip of a high-pressure system direct from the arctic. It does appear that this weather will last through tomorrow if the Weather Underground model forecast maps can be believed. After that all bets are off. We may be in for a bit of a blow, so keep your windshield scraper handy.

N.O.A.A. did not do very well with the forecast for the temperature for the overnight, and they did not do much better with the relative humidity forecast.
Forecast data for today.
