Just Plain Cold
Today we have had a substantial taste of Winter weather with a capital WINTER. It was cold and it was windy making for a very unpleasant time outside. N.O.A.A. did get this one right for the predominant weather. We had no precipitation. It was actually more pleasant outside at 21:00 hours because the wind had settled down reducing the wind chill.
For the overnight N.O.A.A. predicts no precipitation, clear skies and cold temperatures. The temperature here seems to be well ahead of the forecast into the negative numbers. The relative humidity seems to be fairly close to the forecast, and there is not much wind making it more comfortable to be outside this evening that it was this morning in the sun.
My Weather Stick points straight out and the relative humidity supports that at 65%. It is cold, but there is no wind at the moment. The barometric pressure is higher than I can recall seeing it in recent times. My Min/M ax Thermometer forecasts partly cloudy skies and falling barometric pressure. The other two instruments are calling for fair skies with continued high barometric pressure. I think it will be a cold, clear star-studded night with high pressure firmly in control for now. Tomorrow that may change, but that is how I see it now.
