How Deep Will The Frost Go?
The Arctic Blast keeps blasting. It is still cold, and it appears that it will continue for the immediate future. N.O.A.A. predicted a low of 0°F for our area overnight. Guess what, -8.3°F is well below 0°F. They missed that mark by a country mile. They did get the predominant weather correct, since we had no precipitation, the skies were clear, it was cold but it was dry. We all know that dry cold is easier to deal with, unless the wind blows as it did last night and this morning.
For today N.O.A.A. still sees no precipitation on the immediate horizon. Once again the sky will remain clear (or nearly so), the temperatures will remain below 20°F and the relative humidity will be low (around 30%). The Weather Underground model forecast maps do not show any storms headed for us right now and the NEXRAD composite radar is only showing lake effect snow near the Great Lakes. The cold continues.
My Weather Stick points up, and at 52% who can blame it. Two of the electronic instruments forecast fair skies with rising barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions with a rising barometer as well. Right now the sky is clear or nearly so; the wind is active, and the temperature below 10°F. My guess is that these conditions will continue unabated for today.
