Mares' Tails And Mackerel Scales-Precipitation In 24 Hours
There was no red sky tonight, but there were Mares' Tails and Mackerel Scales. N.O.A.A. was right about the precipitation and about right about the temperature. We had no precipitation and the temperature never made it to 20°F. The cloud cover increased all day, until this evening we had mostly cloudy skies with cirrus clouds.
For the overnight N.O.A.A. forecasts temperatures below 0°F, cloud cover in the mid fifties until 04:00 hours when it will jump to 69% and no precipitation. The relative humidity is supposed to get into the 90% range making it more uncomfortable to be outside.
My Weather Stick points up in response to the 40% relative humidity. Two of my electronic instruments forecast fair skies with rising barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts clouds with a rising barometer. My own take on everything is that we will have clear skies cold temperatures, moist air and no precipitation.
