The Middle Of March And A Lot Of Foul Weather Is Coming
For today, we had a couple of fleeting showers that did not produce enough precipitation to measure. I guess we can say that N.O.A.A got it right, but just barely. The temperature was the thing that took me by surprise. I walked outside around noon the sun came out and despite the clouds, it got downright warm. The temperature almost reached seventy. That was fantastic. I did cut and split some more wood after I did the morning chores. I still cannot believe what I am seeing for weather that is coming at us.
N.O.A.A. is still predicting rain for the overnight, with temperatures remaining above freezing and the cloud cover nearing 100% (95%/96%/97%/99%). This may not be a pleasant night. I have noticed that there is a bit more wind this evening as well. All of this supports the forecast by N.O.A.A. for foul weather.
My Weather Stick points straight out and that is the response to the 84% relative humidity. All three of the electronic instruments predict foul weather with falling barometric pressure. Not only that, but the temperature is expected to fall tomorrow producing snow instead of rain for tomorrow Friday and Saturday. That is the way I read the Weather Underground model forecast maps, but they are only computer projections, and could be wrong. Apparently, all the models are predicting snow. The difference between them is how much we will get. My understanding is that we will get it all, and it will be the wet heavy spring type known as poor farmer’s fertilizer. This is also the type of snow that helps get rid of the snow pack. By the way, if you live in low-lying areas of central and southern Maine there are some flood advisories out there, so pay attention to rivers and streams in your area.

The temperature comparison for today was much better than it has been with only the last data point more than five degrees off. The relative humidity forecast did better with only the last data point out of bounds, N.O.A.A. gets a better rating for the relative humidity forecast today. They will try again, until they get it right.
