A Foul Weather Example

Overnight N.O.A.A. did get it right. We have had rain, and my rain gauge is up to the task, at least for now. The temperature did go just below forty degrees, came up to forty-one and is falling again. The fog right now is so thick you can almost cut it with a knife and it is overcast above the fog. There is virtually no ice left in my driveway (photo this afternoon I hope), but I fear that will not last very long. Old may Winter is not through with us by a long shot I would warrant.
For the start today, N.O.A.A. forecasts rain followed by a mix of wintry precipitation for the afternoon. I just cannot wait. They also predict the temperature will fall to around 36°F, and the cloud cover will fall into the low eighties (98%/96%/95%/81%) by late afternoon. The 36°F temperature does not necessarily support the wintry mix, but the falling temperature does not bode well for the overnight. The NEXRAD radar show a massive system of rain headed our way. The Weather Underground model forecast maps show a decent day tomorrow, but a stormy one on Saturday.
With 91% relative humidity recorded, is it a surprise that my Weather Stick points down? I am a little surprised at the disagreement among my electronic instruments. The Weather Station Console forecasts rising barometric pressure and partly cloudy skies. The Min/Max Thermometer forecasts foul weather with falling barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts rain with steady barometric pressure (almost no change over the last 12 hours). How can I call this? I look outside and see rain falling and very heavy fog; therefore, I suggest we will see those conditions continue. With the temperature already starting to fall I would suggest that this will not be the most pleasant weather of the season, beware of snow and flooding, not a great combination.

The temperature comparison for today was not as good as yesterday. They got close once, and that was only within 3°F. The relative humidity forecast did no better. They will try again, until they get it right.

Dear Jeff:
We received this email. I can't really make head nor tales of it. We haven't read your blog for several days. Is this a "chain letter" email?!
