The Storm Veered Off To Our South

For today, N.O.A.A. predicted rain changing to a wintry mix. Well, they get the first part right, but the wintry mix turned out to be cloudy skies only. The temperature hovered around the mid-forties, and only now, (20:30) has it dropped below freezing. The sky has remained overcast and the wind has been blowing moderately this afternoon. It has not been the greatest day to be outside getting the things done that need to be done. Things, like the pile of wood that you see near my woodsplitter.

If You Look Carefully You Can See The Ruts In The Mud For the overnight N.O.A.A. forecasts no precipitation, temperatures dipping into the teens, and cloud cover dropping into the mid-thirty percent range (67%/52%/36%/34%). That does support the idea that we will have no precipitation overnight. The Weather Underground model forecast maps suggest the same, as does the NEXRAD composite radar that shows the storm moving offshore just south of the Maine coast.
My Weather Stick points straight out, responding to the 50% relative humidity. I did not get a picture of that one. All three of the electronic instruments that I have forecast rising barometric pressure and fair skies. That supports the N.O.A.A. forecast of no precipitation for the overnight. According to the Weather Underground model forecast maps we will be clobbered with an old-fashioned nor'easter from early Saturday morning until between 09:00 and 12:00 Sunday. I can hardly wait?

Comparative data for today.
Temperature: 43°F/39.9°F//40°F/40.4°F//38°F/43.7°F//36°F/42.0°F
Relative Humidity: 96%/58%//85%/91%//75%/92%//67%/66%.

N.O.A.A. only missed one of the forecast temperatures, and that was for the 16:00 hour data point. That was not too bad. The only point that N.O.A.A. got right for the relative humidity was the 16:00 hour data point. One of these days they will get them both right on the same day.
Forecast data for the overnight.
Temperature: 33°F/27°F/22°F/18°F
Relative Humidity: 58%/65%/68%/73%
