The Storm Is just Starting (19:00 hours)

It is just after 19:00 hours and the snow is just blowing and going. I did run outside to put my windshield cover on my truck. I really do not want to deal with cleaning the windshield in the morning (assuming I go outside to clean the vehicle in the morning) or afternoon. It was not pleasant out there either with exposed flesh feeling 11.6°F. The altostratus clouds shown in the photo

These Altostratus Clouds Portend Some Very Foul Weather

have given way to stratus clouds, and the snow is here. The wind as I noted earlier has picked up in intensity and changed direction. It is now coming from the east to the southeast. This is going to be what we here in Maine call a Cockah (remember there is no "R" in Maine). Hang on folks we are going for a ride.
N.O.A.A. predicts snow all night long, 100% cloud cover, also, all night long, and the temperatures dipping into the teens again. (Guess what N.O.A.A. they are already there). I checked the graphical forecast and the prediction is for a bit over a foot of snow on the ground by morning. As I have been following the progress of this storm it still does not look like it will end until late tomorrow or early Sunday with as much as 18 inches of new snow predicted by the end. Once again I guess we will get all of it.
My Weather stick was pointing up around 15:00 hours when the relative humidity was 35%, and now at 69% it points slightly up. All three of my electronic instruments are forecasting partly cloudy skies with falling barometric pressure. The snow currently is not falling, but is blowing straight across my yard from the south-southeast, that is horizontally. I just looked at the NEXRAD radar and Weather Underground model forecast maps, and they have been updated, showing a great deal of weather moving in our direction. This will probably be the storm of the season that will be talked about for some time to come.

The Snow Gauge Starts Here. Where Will It End?
Sky-PM: Overcast
Cloud Type: Stratus
Weather Stick: Up to Slightly Up
Comparative data for today.
Temperature: 18°F/16.3°F//24°F/21.5°F//28°F/26.4°F//28°F/25.7°F
Relative Humidity: 52%/52%//38%/44%//32%/37%//35%/37%.

N.O.A.A. had all four forecast temperatures and all four relative humidity forecasts close enough to be acceptable. This was the day that they got both the temperature and relative humidity forecasts acceptably correct. Way to go folks.
Forecast data for the overnight.
Temperature: 23°F/20°F/18°F/16°F
Relative Humidity: 54%/64%/73%/88%
