Is This The Eve Of The Vernal Equinox?

When we think of spring we think of crocuses and daffodils, well, not this year. Here in Maine we are seeing around 12 inches of snow on the ground. By the way the predictions for tomorrow indicate another healthy dose of snow overnight and into tomorrow. This appears to be a "line storm". You know, those storms that follow the line between seasons. Overnight we did have some snow showers here, but as I noted last night they did not add to our total snow accumulation. The clouds did dissipate and we have been left with clear skies. There is also some moderate wind.
For the first half of the day N.O.A.A. predicts no precipitation. The predicted cloud cover (20%/;37%/53%/73%) supports the prediction that snow will be moving into the area after noon. The forecast temperature also supports that prediction since it will be just barely reaching the freezing mark. N.O.A.A. is predicting about an inch and a half of new snow out of this event. Welcome to Spring in Maine where we grow the snow-pack instead of spring flowers.
I am surprised that my Weather Stick points only slightly up with 40% relative humidity. I wonder if the sun shining on it is having an effect. Maybe it is predicting some unsettled weather in our future. Two of the electronic instruments forecast fair skies and a rising barometer. The remote weather station forecasts partly cloudy skies with the same rising barometer. What I see outside is a beautiful morning with no hint of clouds or a storm on the horizon. There does seem to be some "milkiness" to the sky west of us, and they sky at sunrise was a little red. These things may portend some foul weather in our future, but I am but a novice at this, so I do not know.

N.O.A.A. forecast the temperature closely for the overnight. The relative humidity forecast missed the mark by the usual country mile. I wish I knew how they determine the forecast numbers. Maybe then I would not be so hard on them.
Forecast data for today.
