Are We Sure this Is Not The Winter Solstice?
The calendar says tomorrow is the first day of Spring, but the weather says Winter all the way. The clouds have been slowly moving from West To East, and they have been thickening all day. This event certainly has been taking its own sweet time getting here. N.O.A.A. seems to have gotten this right, except we have hot had any snow or other precipitation so far this afternoon. I guess when they flipped the coin it must have landed on edge and they got half the predominant forecast for the day wrong.
I have looked at the NEXRAD composite radar, and it shows a significant amount of snow on the screen. The only problem I see is that it does not appear to be moving directly at us, but a bit south, and on that basis I have to wonder about the amount of snow we are predicted to receive. I did look at the N.O.A.A. prediction for the amount of snow and they call for about 2 inches by 07:00 hours tomorrow morning. Hmmmm. Their cloud cover prediction in the nineties (95%/92%/90%/86%) and the temperature predictions certainly support snow overnight, but I am just not convinced. With that said I will eat my words when we have the foot of snow on the ground tomorrow morning.
My Weather Stick points up this afternoon, and with 31% relative humidity I agree with that, unlike this mornings reading. The Weather Station Console and Min/Max Thermometer forecast fair skies (they are wrong) with rising barometric pressure. The remote weather Station forecasts partly cloudy skies with a steady barometer. I am betting on N.O.A,.A., but I am not sure of the amount of snow they are predicting

N.O.A.A. forecast the temperature closely for today, just not as well as last night. The relative humidity forecast missed the mark, but again not as badly as they did overnight. I heard that they flip a coin. I think they have a sheet with 100 numbers on it and toss a coin at it, and where it lands that is the number they pick. I am teasing, but they do seem to have their problems forecasting the temperature and relative humidity.
Forecast data for the overnight.
