The Wind Helped Keep The Black Flies Down!
For those of you that have experienced Black Flies, they are ostensibly the most heinous of creatures. They do not bite, they suck, and can leave you bleeding. The welt you have the next day can be the size of a silver dollar. Even wearing long sleeved tee shirts and Ben's 100% Deet they found places to attack. The wind does help keep them away though. They just cannot light when it is windy. Today was a good day to work outside. The winds were moderate, the temperature as well and the sun was out most of the day here in Wilton, Maine. N.O.A.A. did well at predicting the weather type and cloud cover.
For tonight N.O.A.A. sees no precipitation, the cloud cover dissipating slowly and the temperature remaining in the low fifties to upper forties. This should be another great night for sleeping. The NEXRAD radar shows some showers in Eastern Maine, but none here. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate that tomorrow and even Wednesday will be pleasant with no precipitation.
My Weather Stick points up, responding to the 39% relative humidity. All three of the electronic instruments forecast falling barometric pressure. Two of them predict foul weather, while the remote weather station forecasts cloudy skies. I do not think any of them have it right. My best guess, based on what I see outside, is that we will see some clouds, but they will be few and far between. The temperature will be pleasant and the wind enough to keep the black flies and mosquitoes out of your hair. It should be a pleasant evening.

N.O.A.A. did well predicting the temperature, with the exception of the 08:00 hour data point. The rest were correct. The relative humidity they only had the 17:00 hour data point correct. They missed the other three points. Oh well, we will try again tomorrow.
