The rain started at around 04:30 hours and continued until just before 05:00 hours. It appears that there were showers around the area of Wilton, Maine all night, but we had just one of them. The amount of rain you received was dependant on where you were. N.O.A.A. had that part of the forecast correct. This rain, and any showers we receive today should be good for our gardens.
For today, N.O.A.A. predicts rain for this morning and scattered light rain showers for this afternoon. Their estimate of the cloud cover (94%/81%/68%/70%)supports that forecast. The NEXRAD radar, when I checked a few minutes ago, showed that the showers had cleared our area, and were moving off the coast. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate that we may well be in for some more showers later today.
My Weather Stick (surprise of surprises) points down in response to the 88% relative humidity. If it pointed up I would be concerned. All three of the electronic instruments are forecasting falling barometric pressure. The Weather Station and Min/Max Thermometer forecast foul weather, while the remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions. I still think we will see unsettled conditions for the next several days because there appears to be a low pressure system stalled in the mid-section of the country that is sending impulses of foul weather our way. Until that system moves we will probably see this kind of weather for a while.
