A Red Sky This Morning

The light scattered showers and rain that N.O.A.A. predicted for Wilton, Maine and other areas overnight just did not happen. The two lines of storms that I noted last night on the NEXRAD radar just did not make it here. There is a line of showers on the border between New York and Vermont that appear to be moving toward us. I do not know if they will make it this far or not. The red sky is usually a portent of foul weather moving in, but we will need to wait and see.
N.O.A.A. is forecasting rain all day today, and their cloud cover forecast (94%/90%/81%/52%) would support that. The Weather Underground model forecast maps forecast the rain to begin between 09:00 and 12:00 this morning. If I hurry and get the chores done I may be able to get the beans, squashes, cucumbers and cauliflower planted before it starts.
My Weather Stick points straight out either forecasting a relative humidity in the high seventies or low eighties or unsettled weather ahead. The usual suspects forecast stormy weather ahead while the remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions. We cannot have rain without clouds, so I guess it is right. All three of the electronic instruments predict falling barometric pressure. With all the indicators in place I would suggest that at some point today we will have some rain.

N.O.A.A. only missed the 23:00 hour temperature reading, and that was only by eight degrees. Further, they only missed the 20:00 hour relative humidity reading. This is significantly better than they did yesterday. Is it luck or is there some improvement here?
Forecast data for today.
