A Beautiful Day For The First Day Of Summer

I do not believe we could have ordered a better day from Mother Nature. It was warm, but not too warm. It was dry with a bit of wind. N.O.A.A. had us experiencing light scattered showers all day, but they did miss that one. There was no rain, at least here in Wilton, Maine. My garden is now complete. I planted the peppers and cauliflower seedlings that I bought. I also planted my vine crops including cucumbers, pickling cucumbers, cantaloupes, acorn squash, buttercup squash, New England Pie Pumpkins and Lumina (white skinned) Pumpkins. I can now say, "It is finished." As things grow, if they grow, I will include photos of the growing garden and the produce. This is the first time in three years I have had the entire garden planted.
For the overnight N.O.A.A. predicts light scattered showers for the entire period. I am not so sure of that. I have just checked the NEXRAD radar, and they show us between two lines of storms, and they are both headed south. They do not seem to be headed toward us at all, and there are no showers north of our location. The Weather Underground model forecast maps do not show any precipitation in our area until late tomorrow afternoon, and then it will be gone early Saturday morning. The cloud cover does support the idea of some showers (80%/84%/88%/72%), and we may have some, but there would need to be a change in the direction of the ones seen on the radar.
My Weather Stick points up either calling the prognosticators liars or responding to the lower relative humidity. All three of my electronic instruments indicate foul weather with falling barometric pressure. The pressure has fallen, and that usually indicates inclement weather moving in. Here again, based on what I see outside there is a possibility of some showers depending on how the clouds come together and build. While I was planting I did note that the garden is quite dry, and we could use a bit of rain to kick start the seed that has been planted. I certainly hope that, after two years of super wet springs, we do not have a dry season with no produce from the garden. That would be a travesty.

N.O.A.A. was not within five degrees of the recorded temperature today. They were outside the 5% for the relative humidity for all but the 14:00 hour point. Once again this was not a good showing for N.O.A.A.
