Mother Nature Is Smiling On The Gardens

Under other circumstances I would call this inclement weather, but today, since I finished planting the last of my seeds yesterday I would suggest that this is great weather. As I noted yesterday the ground did seem to be a bit dry in my garden. So far we have only had 0.02 inches of rain, but it is still raining gently. N.O.A.A. had the predominant weather correct for the last period of the overnight, since the rain started around 05:00 and the first recorded precipitation was at 05:28. Right now it is cloudy and bright with some light rain falling.
For today, N.O.A.A. predicts scattered light rain all day, and the cloud cover forecast (87%/78%/68%/81%) does support that forecast. The NEXRAD radar shows us currently under a shower, and that is moving southeasterly quite slowly. The Weather Underground model forecast maps still do not show any rain this morning, but they do show some precipitation this afternoon, into this evening. That line of showers should be gone by tomorrow morning with some more rain predicted for tomorrow afternoon, and so it seems to be going for the weekend.
When I started collecting the data for this report My Weather Stick was pointed slightly up. The relative humidity has continued to go up (it is now 85% at 06:30) and my Weather Stick points slightly down. I suspect that condition will continue until the relative humidity reaches its maximum. All three of my electronic instruments forecast stormy weather with rain and falling barometric pressure. Since it is raining outside I guess they are right. This has been a gentle rain, just what is necessary to get the seeds germinated and growing in the gardens. As I traveled around the area of Wilton< Maine yesterday I noticed that my garden was not the only one to go in a little late. We can only hope now that we can escape the frost at the other end of the growing season until we have a decent harvest.

N.O.A.A. was within five degrees of the recorded temperature overnight. They were outside the 5% for the relative humidity at all four of the points for the overnight period. Come on folks, you can do better than that.
