Morning Thunderstorms

Apparently there is a significant amount of instability in the atmosphere this morning, since we are already experiencing some thunderstorms. N.O.A.A. had predicted the possibility of severe thunderstorms overnight followed by light scattered showers. We did not seem to have any here in Wilton, Maine, however you may have had one at your location. At about 08:15 hours the rain started along with the rumble of thunder. It is now raining gently, and that is good for the gardens. This is really needed right now.
I did look at my peppers and cauliflower yesterday, and they seem to be surviving this dry spell, but I am sure they would like to get a bit of water.
N.O.A.A. predicts severe weather for our area this morning, with that prediction dropping to light scattered showers this afternoon. The cloud cover prediction (79%/69%/60%/42%) could support such a forecast. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate that the storms will be over by about 21:00 hours tonight. The NEXRAD radar shows storm cells moving through the area, but nothing behind these.
My Weather Stick continues to frown due to the 87% relative humidity. Nothing like giving our inanimate objects anthropomorphic characteristics. My electronic weather instruments all indicate falling barometric pressure and foul weather. As I look out the window I see the sun coming out, and that means the humidity is probably going to go through the roof, and we are in for some more hot humid weather. I understand that if we can get through today we may be in for some cooler and drier weather, as a result of a front coming down from Canada. We will just have to wait and see on that one.

N.O.A.A. was a little off at 23:00 hours with the temperature, but the rest of the forecast points were good. With the exception of the 20:00 hours point they missed all the relative humidity points for the overnight. Nice try folks, but maybe you can do better today.
Forecast data for today.
