The Sun Is OUT!
This morning it appeared that the clouds were going to remain for a while, but by the time I started this report the sky was already beginning to clear. N.O.A.A. did have the predominant weather correct. It did rain from 23:15 hours through 07:05 hours here in Wilton, Maine, and we accumulated another 0.14 inches of rain, bringing our total for July to 1.01 inches of precipitation. I have noticed a Kestrel Falcon perching atop the mast for my anemometer for the past several days. I suspect it is a female, and she dives into my lawn searching for food to take back to her nest for the nestlings. I like seeing birds of this type because they help to keep the voles, moles and insects under a bit of control. They are also beautiful in flight.

The Huntress at Work
The N.W.S. is predicting a gorgeous day for today with mild temperatures, low humidity, light winds and no precipitation. I checked the NEXRAD radar and there was one storm cell off the coast at Portland, and the rest of the precipitation was moving into the Canadian Maritimes. The Weather Underground model forecast maps show the same situation, and no rain at least for today.
My Weather Stick responded to the 73% relative humidity by frowning slightly, but with the relative humidity now at 40% I suspect it is smiling broadly. (I have not looked.) When I checked earlier, two of the electronic instruments were still calling for foul weather with falling barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecast cloudy conditions with steady barometric pressure. My own feeling is that we will see a great day with mild temperatures, light winds, no precipitation, nearly clear skies and low humidity. We cannot ask for much more than that. This should rate as a "10".

N.O.A.A. did very well predicting the temperature. They had all four forecast points within 5°F. They did not do as well with the relative humidity. They missed the first two points, but were correct with the last two. I still think they need a different sheet, or someone else to throw the forecast coins on it.
Forecast data for today.
