The temperature did reach 80°F as I drove to Portland, Maine to meet a friend at the airport. The sky was clear, N.O.A.A. said no precipitation, and the humidity seemed to be lower. All in all it was a good day.
For the overnight the N.W.S. is calling for no precipitation for the first half followed by some potential fog for the second half. The cloud cover is expected to increase, but only slightly (4%/10%/15%/18%). This should allow for some radiational cooling with temperatures dropping into the fifties. There is a front in the area of western New York that appears to be moving toward us according to the NEXRAD radar. The Weather Underground model forecast maps also show some rain moving in late on Saturday afternoon. We will have to see as the time gets closer.
My Weather Stick points slightly down, and at 88% relative humidity that is a bit of a surprise. After checking I find that the relative humidity has been rising rapidly, and that would result in a lag time before there is a full response by the weather stick. Two of my electronic instruments forecast a mix of fair and cloudy conditions with the barometric pressure rising. The remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions with steady barometric pressure. The best I can come up with for a forecast at 01:20 hours is a clear night with cool temperatures. The N.W.S. did fairly well with the temperature forecast. My Weather Station went off line this afternoon, and missed two of the data points. That was strange. The same was true of the relative humidity. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. Twenty lashes with a wet noodle for me and my Weather Station. Hopefully it will do better tomorrow.
