This morning the sun rose into nimbostratus clouds. The sky was quite red, although I did not get a photograph of it. This is one of those mornings when you can say it feels like rain. Not only does it feel like rain, it looks like it. For the overnight, the N.W.S. did get the predominant weather correct, because there was no precipitation. The cloud cover did increase, although by my estimate it was more than 56% at 05:00 this morning. For today, N.O.A.A. says we will start with some light rain, and that will increase to rain through the rest of the day.
The cloud cover is expected to start at 86% and that too will increase (86%/88%/95%/96%) throughout the day, certainly supporting a forecast of rain. The potential certainly is there for precipitation. The NEXRAD radar is not showing the animation of the precipitation moving toward us, but there is a large area of precipitation west of us. The Weather Underground model forecast maps are animated, and they show rain arriving here by around 09:00 hours and staying all day.
My Weather Stick is frowning this morning, indicating high relative humidity (my weather station says 91%, and I believe it.) The electronic instruments at this location in Wilton, Maine are in total disagreement. The Weather Station forecasts fair skies with rising barometric pressure. The Min/Max Thermometer indicates a mix of fair and cloudy skies with falling barometric pressure. Finally, the remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions with steady barometric pressure. It feels like rain, and that is what I will predict for today. We will see this evening what the correct forecast was. Of course, as usual, hindsight is 20/20.

N.O.A.A. did miss the 20:00 temperature forecast and they were close at the 23:00 hour point. They did get the last two points correct overnight. They missed all but the 05:00 forecast point for the relative humidity. They got 3 out of 8 points correct, and that is not a very good showing at all.
