The Inclement Weather Continues
Overnight we had an additional 0.02 inches of rain. The temperature barely moved, remaining at or near sixty degrees. There is also some fog this morning, and that is an indicator of the amount of humidity in the air, and the difference in temperature between the ground and the air. We visited our daughter and her husband last evening, and on our way home saw several raccoons in the road. Fortunately (for them and us) we did not hit any of them.
N.O.A.A. did, once again get the predominant weather correct along with the supporting cloud cover. For today the N.W.S. forecasts rain all day, and between the fog and cloud cover I suspect they are right. The cloud cover is expected to decrease, but not enough to be able to tell (100%/94%/88%/88%). The NEXRAD radar shows a large area of precipitation in Western New York that is moving in our direction. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate that the weather here will be precipitation free during the day today, but tonight seems to be a different matter.
My Weather Stick, here in Wilton, Maine, continues to frown deeply, and with the relative humidity at 92% on my weather station that is no surprise. All three of the electronic instruments forecast falling barometric pressure. They do not agree, however, on the meaning of that indicator. My Weather Station forecasts mixed conditions, partly cloudy and partly fair. The Min/Max Thermometer suggests rain in our future. Finally the remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions for today. With the fog, temperature, lack of wind and cloud cover I suspect we will see unsettled conditions with a very good possibility of rain or at least showers for today. I guess we will have a better idea this evening.

N.O.A.A. did correctly predict the overnight temperatures, at least within five degrees. The only point they missed was at 02:00 hours, and that only by 7%. Actually that was not a bad job by N.O.A.A. If you consider that my Weather station has some difficulty reaching 100% (the highest I have ever seen on it was 96%) they did well with their forecast.
Forecast data for today.
