No Fog And No Rain!
Despite the N.W.S. forecast of light scattered showers and fog overnight, we here in Wilton, Maine had neither. The temperature fell gradually into the mid-sixties (remember that in January to keep you warm) with relative humidity in the nineties. Right now it is overcast, and the sky is threatening. It will not matter, since I need to go for a bike ride this morning, no matter what.
For today the N.W.S. forecasts light scattered showers and a cloud cover that probably supports that (74%/70%/65%/51%). The cloud cover should decrease as the day wears on. There are some showers currently in the Boston area, but they do not seem to be moving directly at us according to the NEXRAD radar. According to the Portland/Gray radar there do not seem to be any showers or storms close to us, and their view of the Boston storms show them moving south of us, possibly affecting the coast of Maine. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate the chance of precipitation by mid-afternoon, and my bike ride should be done well before they get here.
My Weather Stick has caught up with the 92% relative humidity, and frowns deeply. I am too. My Weather Station and Min/Max Thermometer are both forecasting mixed conditions with partly cloudy skies, but rising barometric pressure. The remote weather station still predicts cloudy conditions with steady barometric pressure. I think we will still see some unsettled weather with a chance for showers later this afternoon. Those showers will probably be widely scattered, so if you get one it will depend on your location.
Comparative data for the overnight.
Temperature:74°F/74.4°F//68°F/67.2°F//61°F/64.9°F//62°F/64.7°F
Relative Humidity: 69%/77%//81%/87%//87%/91%//100%/91%
The N.W.S. did get a all the temperature forecast points correct overnight. The only relative humidity forecast that was
on the mark was at 02:00 hours. Kudos for the temperature demerits for the relative humidity. I am still not impressed
with their capability to prognosticate these two parameters.
