Wow! Talk About A Taste Of Autumn.
As I look out my west window at my little stand of maple trees I note that one of them is beginning to show some autumn color. I know it is only the middle of August, but the amount of light is getting low enough to cause the chlorophyll to lose its color allowing the orange and yellow to show through. I noted on Mile Hill in New Sharon, Maine that there are trees that are showing even more color. It was a nice night with no clouds and very cool temperatures that reached the low to mid-forties. The house is really getting aired out with all this crisp, cool air over Wilton, Maine.
For today the N.W.S. forecasts no precipitation, but some cloud cover (47%/45%/33%/37%). That should not dampen any outdoor activities you may have planned. I plan to get some more wood cut and split. According to the weather prognosticators there is not supposed to be as much wind as there was yesterday. That may allow the temperatures to rise a bit more than they did yesterday.
My Weather Stick is frowning a little, and that may be because the relative humidity was at 80% when I took the reading. Obviously it has fallen since then. All three of my electronic instruments are forecasting rising barometric pressure. The remote weather station is forecasting partly cloudy skies while the other two are forecasting fair skies. I suspect that we shall see fair skies today with just a slight possibility of a passing cloud. I think it is going to be a great day to do anything outside.

Relative Humidity: 66%/65%//83%/69%//89%/81%//93%/84%
The N.W.S forecast the temperature correctly for all four points overnight. Their inability to correctly forecast the relative humidity was again evident. The only point they had correct was at 20:00 hours last night. I still guess their models are not well tuned to the reality of the relative humidity.
Forecast data for today.

Relative Humidity: 71%/43%/33%/37%

Hello Jeff - Do you know anything about a possible frost tonight? My weather station says to cover the gardens tonite and posted a "frost advisory", even to the pointed of "if you don't cover tonite, you may wake up to dead plants". If this is true, I need to hustle and cover my plants (plus all the weeds that took over) Thanks for your advice.
