There Is a Definite Taste Of Autumn In The Air!

When I started working on the wood this morning it was cool enough to put on a light sweatshirt. It only took about 10 minutes and the sweatshirt came off. I cut all the pieces to size, winding up with 54 pieces of wood to split. I reduced that number to 10 by quitting time. This was, in case you have not guessed, a perfect day to continue work outside. There were some clouds, but they did not bring us any precipitation, and there was some wind to keep me cool. I think, and it is subjective, that the cloud cover was heavier than N.O.A.A. predicted, but they did have the predominant weather correct.
For the overnight, N.O.A.A. predicts no precipitation for the first half of the night and fog for the second half. If their prediction of the temperature for Wilton, Maine is correct we do not have to worry about frost here yet. There will not be much cloud cover (0%/0%/0%/12%) to act as a blanket overnight, and keep the frost off the pumpkin, but the fog will. According to the NEXRAD radar the storms are still being kept to our south. The Weather Underground model forecast maps are showing the same thing. It appears we will have at least one more day of this kind of weather, maybe two.
My Weather Stick is expressionless in response to the 75% relative humidity. Two of the electronic instruments forecast clear skies overnight with rising barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts a mix of clear and cloudy skies with steady barometric pressure. My guess is that we will see the clouds dissipate and temperatures fall into the low forties or possibly the upper thirties. Any fog that rolls in after 02:00 will protect the tender vegetation, so we should be all right.

The N.W.S forecast the temperature correctly for all four of the forecast points today. They only had the 11:00 forecast point correct with the relative humidity. The relative humidity still continues to elude them on a regular basis.
