Hazy, Hot And Humid!

After last week we may have considered summer over, well, it is not giving up without a fight. Yesterday we had lots of clouds, and a threat, but not reality of rain. Overnight the humidity remained quite high, and we did have 0.02 inches of fresh rain early on. That brings our total for the month to 2.22 inches of rain. That agrees with my analog rain gauge. So, N.O.A.A. did have the predominant weather correct, as well as the cloud cover.
For today the N.W.S. predicts light scattered showers again with a cloud cover to match (58%/60%/62%/69%). Right now (09:00) we do have sunshine, but there is some haze or fog and some cirrus clouds. The NEXRAD regional radar shows some storms at the border between Vermont and New Hampshire, and they appear to be moving, slowly, toward us. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate that we may well see showers showing up around 15:00 this afternoon, and those lasting well into tonight.
My Weather Stick is frowning again, and so am I with 92% relative humidity. Two of my electronic instruments forecast foul weather with falling barometric pressure. The remote weather station is stuck on clouds with steady barometric pressure. I think we will see some instability in the atmosphere resulting in some storms this afternoon. I also think, based on the Weather Underground forecast maps that once these storms get past us we will see the relative humidity drop, and some dry Canadian air filter in, making things much more comfortable. That would be late Sunday or Monday.

The N.W.S had the forecast temperature within five degrees of the actual temperature in Wilton, Maine for all four periods. The third and fourth periods were forecast correctly for the relative humidity. This was not their best, but it was not their worst showing either.
Forecast data for today.
