It Is Still Hazy, Hot And Humid!

We had another shower overnight that started at about 22:30. That storm knocked me off line from 22:45 until around 01:00 hours, so my rainfall total is probably slightly off, by as much as 0.25 inches based on my analog rain gauge. So our total rainfall for the month of August is 2.75 inches. N.O.A.A. did have the predominant weather correct, in that, we did have more showers after the first one I reported. By the way the light show that was produced by that first one was impressive. If we should have another such storm I will need to use my video recorder to get some footage of the lightning, and then pick individual frames to include with the next report. That will be a bit of a challenge for me.
For today the N.W.S. forecasts hazy conditions to start the day until around noontime, and no precipitation for the rest of the day. There is a batch of precipitation south and west of us that appears to be moving in our direction, but I am not sure it will reach us. The Weather Underground model forecast maps do not indicate any additional rain moving toward us at this point.
My Weather Stick is frowning, and as sticky and hot as it is right now I am too. As I have heard it often said, "When it is cold you can always put on another layer, but when it is hot there is just so much you can take off and be socially acceptable." Right now my electronic instruments cannot agree on anything. My Weather Station sees the barometric pressure rising, and that with partly cloudy skies. My Min/Max Thermometer forecasts foul weather with falling barometric pressure. Finally, the remote weather station sees cloudy conditions with steady barometric pressure. As I look out my west facing window I see partly cloudy skies with cirrus clouds, but a good bit of sunshine. I think the conditions will improve as the day goes on with the hazy, hot and humid conditions giving way to cooler and drier conditions.

The N.W.S had the forecast temperature within five degrees of the actual temperature in Wilton, Maine for tall four periods. They missed the first and last overnight forecast relative humidity data points. They missed two of the eight recorded data points. Once again, I am not sure we are getting fair value for our tax dollars, and they want us to donate to the "findu" web site. As long as their forecasting accuracy is at this level I do not think throwing money at them will improve their accuracy.
Forecast data for today.
Temperature: 69°F/78°F/82°F/80°F
Relative Humidity: 81%/60%/49%/53%

Hi there Jeff - I was wondering if you have heard anything about this (it was a bulletin I received on MySpace) -
On August 27, at 12:30am, Mars will be visible, it is larger than a full moon, and won't be seen again for some 267 (I don't remember exactly how many) years. Do you have any knowledge of this? I am preparing with my telescope, binoculars, camera, etc, but am I doing this for nothing? Thanks and sorry to bother you.

Sorry to bother you Jeff - I did some more research and the best I could find as far as Mars sighting goes, it happened in 2003 and I certainly missed that. I think the person in MySpace went to the Mars page and it really doesn't say the year until you really get into the articles. I saw nothing on 2007. Again, sorry to bother you on this matter. I'll be more careful before I ask you "stupid questions" again. Thanks!!
