A Foggy Greeting This Morning.
In a couple of days we will begin to count the foggy mornings to give us an idea of what we can expect for "significant snowstorms" for the winter. For now, we can just look outside and see that it is indeed foggy, and that N.O.A.A. did not predict it for this area of Wilton, Maine. They did predict the low cloud cover though Despite the high relative humidity it was a comfortable night for sleeping. By the way, if you do not think Autumn is on the way just look at the Maple trees and note the change in the color of the leaves.

Autumn Is Coming, It Is Unstoppable
For today, the N.W.S. suggests that there will be no precipitation, but the cloud cover will increase over the day (5%/16%/26%/37%). This is in preparation for the passage of a front that is supposed to pass through this area tomorrow afternoon. That front is expected to touch off some showers, but we shall see about that tomorrow.
My Weather Stick is frowning at the 89% relative humidity. My Weather Station is forecasting partly cloudy skies with falling barometric pressure. My Min/Max Thermometer is forecasting fair skies with rising barometric pressure. Finally the remote weather station, like the WS 2308 weather station is forecasting partly cloudy skies with falling barometric pressure. My take on all of this is that we can expect to see the barometric pressure fall, and clouds movie in gradually. We will probably have no rain today, and maybe not tonight. Tomorrow may be a very different matter. I have some errands to run this morning, but I still hope to get two more stalls cleaned in the barn. As has been noted before, you do not own a farm, it owns you. You have to love it!

The N.W.S had the forecast temperature within five degrees of the actual temperature in Wilton, Maine for all four periods overnight. Just as they correctly forecast the temperature they missed the relative humidity at all four points overnight. Once again this was not a good showing for their capability to prognosticate temperature and relative humidity.
Forecast data for today.
