The Sun Is Rising Into The Clouds!

I was not aware that we would see the cloudy conditions we have this morning, but here they are. There is some wind this morning, and that combined with the warmer than expected temperatures resulted in no dew on the grass. With the temperatures in the mid-fifties it was a delightful night for sleeping, and I did like a log. Of course with the wood cutting and splitting that I did yesterday that was no surprise either. N.O.A.A.. Forecast no precipitation overnight, and they were quite correct. Based on the photographs, I think their estimate of 24% cloud cover at 05:00 this morning was a bit off.

Clouds Make An Interesting Photographic Subject For today, the N.W.S. forecasts no precipitation, but cloud cover higher than it has been lately (35%/37%/38%/41%). There are again no storms showing up on the NEXRAD regional radar that might affect us. The Weather Underground model forecast maps indicate that we will have clear sailing right through Thursday. Summer is drawing to a close, but these days seem to be the best we have had this year. At this point we will take what we can get since we do not have to shovel this kind of weather.
For the first time in a while my Weather Stick points slightly up in the morning. This was in response to the 58% relative humidity. That resulted in there being no dew on the grass, along with the wind which is still blowing through the trees outside my west window. If I recall my old saws correctly, when there is no dew on the grass there will be rain in the next 24 hours. I am not sure I believe that, but we shall see what happens. Two of my electronic instruments forecast foul weather with falling barometric pressure. The remote weather station forecasts cloudy conditions with rising barometric pressure. Based on all the data I have at hand I would suggest that the clouds will dissipate over the day, and we will have another of the Halcyon days of summer. .

The N.W.S had the forecast temperature within five degrees of the actual temperature in Wilton, Maine for three of the four forecast periods overnight. They missed the 02:00 hour point by much more than 5 degrees. They also missed the second half of the overnight forecast for the relative humidity.
